The Returning King

The Returnin King

Are the Jewish people still part of God’s plan?

Does the land of Israel figure in Christ’s return?

Has Jesus’ second coming slipped off the Church’s radar?

This book invites us to take a fresh look at our own beliefs and understanding of current events in the Middle East.

The place of Israel in Christian theology has often been a bone of contention. Many believe that because the Bible makes clear salvation is by faith in Christ this means the worldwide Church is the ‘new Israel’, thus removing modern day Israel from the centre of God’s purposes.

Yet when Clare Lambert visited Israel for the first time, she could not have imagined the revelations that would follow. Encountering God, she was made to reconsider everything she thought she knew about Christ’s return and the Lord’s continuing purposes for Israel.

‘It was in modern-day Jerusalem that God, quite unexpectedly, opened my eyes through a personal encounter,’ writes Clare, ‘and as a result I am now convinced of the importance of this city, the Jewish people and the nation of Israel in the ongoing plans of God.’

Sharing her experiences, Clare invites us to look afresh at our own beliefs about Israel and our understanding of current events in the Middle East.

Simon Ponsonby says of Clare’s book: ‘This is a thrilling story of God at work in the small details of one woman’s life, and of her journey to study in Israel and the unexpected revelation of God’s grand plans for the whole world.’

The great Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon said: ‘I think we do not attach sufficient importance to the restoration of the Jews. We do not think enough about it. But certainly, if there is anything promised in the Bible it is this.’

Commanded as we are by Jesus to watch, it is vital in these turbulent times for Christians to understand the significance of Israel and its people. One day soon Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, the Lion of Judah, will return as King to rule the nations – and He is calling His church to be ready.

Clare says: ‘As Israel increasingly comes into focus both politically and religiously, either as a “problem to solve” or the “ultimate prize”, we need to be watchmen on the walls, scanning the landscape of our times, looking to God for wisdom and doing so with great anticipation.’

What reviewers think:

‘All over the world God is awakening the church to the importance of his end-time promises and purposes for the people and place of Israel.’

Simon Ponsonby, Pastor of Theology, St Aldates Oxford

I have watched the Lord God lead Clare along His chosen way, witnessed her growing love for the Jewish community around her, seen her breathless wonder at the journey to His homeland resulting in her  renewed zeal for the Lord Jesus and His call. I have discovered a friend in Clare who is deeply rooted in her commitment to Christ, passionate about His heart and desires and is growing in increasing intimacy with Him.. As you read this book you will not fail to be profoundly affected and enduringly infected by her genuine love for Jesus and His chosen people, and your eyes will also be opened to the astounding truths in Scripture that have stood for generations and which are as pertinent now as they ever were. You will not be disappointed!’

Anne Coles, New Wine

‘Every line of this book reveals Clare’s love for her Messiah and Israel and God’s love and purpose for His chosen people. With divine insight she explains how God’s promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are reaching fulfilment as the time draws near for His return. You can feel God’s heart pulsating on every page. Clare invites us to journey with her through the pages of both her story and God’s story. It was a privilege for me to make that journey with her, and I invite you to do the same.’

Lynne Bradley, author, performance poet, singer, speaker and lecturer on American musicals
